Communiqué of a One-Day Workshop on Climate Change and Policy Advocacy Skills for Small Scale Farmers in Lagos State organised by HEDA Resource Centre and the Voices for Food Security (VFS) Campaign at LASEPA Conference Room, Alausa-Ikeja, Lagos on Wednesday, 15th February, 2012

Introduction

One hundred and three (103) small scale farmers from Ifako Ijaiye/Ojokoro, Agege, Ikorodu, Badagry, Ojo, Oto-Awori, Ijanikin, Epe, Surulere and Ibeju-Lekki areas of Lagos State as well as media and agriculture policy practitioners from government and the civil society gathered at a 1-day workshop on climate change and policy advocacy skills. As part of the training, an advocacy visit was paid to the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.  

Resource persons were drawn from Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority, FADAMA III coordinating office and the Lagos State House of Assembly. Presentations covered the following areas: Climate Change and Agriculture; Small Scale Farmers and Access to Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; and Harnessing Opportunities in the Legislature.
